► March 30, 2024 – – – The Mighty Wiggus, co-founder and DJ of The Local Groove on 91.5FM WPSU, hosts a show of inspiring music this Saturday at 9pm EST! Along with musicians like Adam Yarger and Caryn Dixon, this episode features Mara Katria and her currently unreleased original “The Strands of Dreams.” The song was written and performed by Mara and mastered at Abbey Road Studios by Andy Walters who has worked intensively with legendary artists including The Cure, U2, and The Beatles to name a few.

It is curated by DJ Sister Sylvie — the beloved program director for The Lion 90.7FM, Penn State’s university station. ► December 9, 2023 – – – Mara Katria’s “Cities in Dust” receives the win at the TMAs for Best Cover Song! Tracks Music Awards is known for featuring significant independent artists alongside industry heavyweights like Liam Gallagher, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift. The TMA festival jury described their experience with the piece this way: “Mara Katria’s voice in ‘Cities in Dust’ flies through your ears and it makes for a wonderful musical journey!”
► December 1, 2023 – – – Mara Katria’s “Cities in Dust” is the official winner of the Ethereal Frames Film and Art Awards in the categories of Best Music and Score. This international film festival especially seeks to shine a spotlight on notable artists with evident love for the craft. In review of the song, the festival jury stated: “‘Cities in Dust’ is equal parts a mesmerising song as it is a thought provoking short film. Mara Katria’s voice lures you in and wraps itself around your heart.”
► November 27, 2023 – – – The Europe Music Video Awards has given the accolade for Best Vocalist [Singing] to Mara Katria for her performance in her new song “Cities in Dust” — an homage to Siouxsie and the Banshees. Mara stated on social media: “It’s a true privilege to be a part of the EMVAs who highlight exceptional art from around the world to promote unity and joy. ► November 15, 2023 – – – Mara Katria is awarded Best Director for her Music Video “Midnight Mind” at the High Tatras International Film Festival. Quoting Mara: “Today, I learned that I’ve been awarded Best Director for my Music Video “Midnight Mind” at the remarkable and majestic High Tatras International Film Festival! When I first observed the poetry with which they described their event and their love of filmmaking, I was inspired. ► August 29, 2023 – – – Upon the recent passing of her father Steven Eugene Pettman, Mara Katria makes his final literary work Pilgrim Heart available for purchase. Profits will benefit one of his favourite charities: St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Jeff Ungar and references Michael Conroy (Modern English, Piroshka, etc) — as well as the album being created by musician and filmmaker Mara Katria in collaboration with Modern English — inspired by Ungar’s recordings from the 80s. ► December 7, 2021 – – – Founder of the orchestral art rock band Kiss Kiss and Ice On Titan recording studios, Josh Benash, is collaborating with Mara Katria for the song “The Forever Seed” on his impending EP. The album (coming January 11, 2022), entitled The Sun Destroyers by Oldster, will feature musical and artistic contributions from several remarkable creators including: Stephanie Babirak, Sandrushka Petrova, Dagan Thogerson, Nekane Arce, Ben Goldstein, D. ► May 29, 2021 – – – The influential and inspiring radio host Sister Sylvie gives a special airing and intro to Mara Katria’s debut single “Midnight Mind” – saying: “Your gorgeous sounds grace The LION 90.7fm (WKPS) – Penn State Radio airwaves!”
► April 30, 2021 – – – J. Jeff Ungar (featured on Mara Katria’s “Midnight Mind” as well as her upcoming album Modern M) is awarded Best Photo for his piece “In The Bright” by the State College Photography association. Ungar’s stunning shot was taken on the film set for one of Katria’s 2022 music videos code-named with a similar title.
► April 7, 2021 – – – Radio host Johnny Popko’s Shirts for the Scene – “a partnership between The Popko Project and Axelrad Screen Printing” – hits its goal and closes with success for fans and artists. On April 7th, the Mara Katria design arrives in the US and Norway.
► March 17, 2021 – – – In celebration of Saint Patrick’s Day, Mara Katria’s tribute to Loreena McKennitt “The Dark Night Of The Soul” – featuring strings and guitars by Rose Baldino and Brian Buchanan with mastering by Clyde Rosencrance – is being featured on the Celtic Roots Radio podcast hosted by Raymond McCullough in Northern Ireland.
